Civil Engineer in Training

Summary: This position is on-site, 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday. We have openings in Phoenix (Headquarters), Dallas, and Morgantown, WV. The candidate may choose the location they like best.

The Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) will work under the supervision of licensed Professional Engineers to provide technical support for land development projects. The EIT will assist in the design and preparation of plans, specifications, and construction documents for grading, drainage, water distribution, sanitary sewer, and stormwater management systems. The EIT will also assist in the preparation of cost estimates, technical reports, and permit applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and preparation of plans, specifications, and construction documents for land development projects.
  • Conduct field investigations and assessments to determine project feasibility and design parameters.
  • Analyze data, such as survey reports, geotechnical reports, and environmental reports, to inform design decisions.
  • Prepare cost estimates and assist in the preparation of project budgets.
  • Prepare technical reports and permit applications.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams, including architects, landscape architects, surveyors, and other engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and standards, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
  • Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or is scheduled to take the exam within the next six months.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build positive working relationships.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Familiarity with land development regulations and permitting processes.
