Enrichment Specialist

Job Title: Enrichment Specialist 

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Reports to: Operations Manager for Youth Enrichment/Regional Coordinator

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Enrichment Specialist is the lead supervisor of youth and teens during youth development programming, facilitating their participation in youth and teen programs. The Enrichment Specialist will:

  • Prepare and submit lesson plans that meet the individual needs of the participants and the overall goals of the program
  • Run activities while being active with youth in the designated activity area; Check participants in and out of program
  • Know and understand the safety aspects regarding youth development activity
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Y Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility; Perform additional duties as needed


 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be able to demonstrate skills/games/activities and explain them clearly.
  • Responsible for the safety of all participants during class time.
  • Must work with individuals within a structured/loosely structured environment.
  • Report to work prepared and adheres to the Y dress code.
  • Knows emergency procedures and the location of emergency equipment.
  • Attends meetings, staff meetings, and instructor workshops as required.
  • Maintains all personal certifications, attending workshops and recertification training as needed or required.
  • Keeps all working areas clean and safe.
  • Responsible for orienting and hosting volunteers and visitors appropriately
  • Responsible for recruiting youth and families to participate in programs
  • Additional responsibilities may be asked depending on the nature of the program and any limitations that the staff may have


 

QUALIFICATIONS:


 

Education


 

Experience

  • Content matter expert
  • No prior teaching experience
  • Prior experience leading youth strongly preferred
  • Strong  skills working with youth


 

Certifications

  • Intellectual and cognitive requirements (collaborative, teamwork, decision making, analysis, etc)


 

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically able to successfully complete required job functions, including use of hands, arms, fingers, able to talk and hear, use a computer, sit and stand, regularly move/lift up to 50 pounds, enter all YMCA environments (office spaces, indoor and outdoor maintenance/mechanical areas, fitness areas, pool and pool space, camping areas, unimproved outdoor locations and other program areas).
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, engage and participate in all enrichment related activities with participants. Accept that quantity of work hours scheduled weekly will fluctuate, and will include night and weekend hours

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Enrichment Specialists may manage 1-20 participants and oversees 1 assistant. Willing to work at multiple locations within the same region.

Accountable for completion of assigned goals as measured by the number of people served, cause driven measures, service satisfaction scores, operating results, and supervisor evaluation of assigned duties. 


 

An offer of employment is contingent upon receipt of satisfactory results to meet minimum requirements of the position.  The requirements may include background check, drug test, driver’s license record, CPS, and/or criminal background check.


 

Additional driver’s license check, CPS, criminal background check, alcohol, and/or drug testing may be required to be processed in the future in order to meet and/or maintain the requirements of this position.
