Project Engineer - Summer Internship

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Project Engineer Intern located at our facility in Blytheville, AR. Reporting to the VP of Engineering and Technology, this position will be hands-on project management work for our Engineering team. The candidate selected will have the opportunity to work at our new state-of-the-art inline steel tube galvanizing factory in Blytheville, Arkansas. This factory will utilize best-in-class manufacturing technology and a fully automated Matter warehouse system. This facility is designed to set industry-leading benchmarks for safety, product quality, and service. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exposure to technical and commercial negotiations with equipment vendors
  • Assist in overseeing the planning and schedule of project timelines
  • Research of new manufacturing technology that would be useful to our facilities 
  • Track and report on project deliverables using appropriate tools to define project progress, problems, and solutions to stakeholders
  • Work with project scopes, goals and deliverables with Business Unit leaders and operations managers
  • Work on various project tasks and resource requirements that assist in procurement and installation of new equipment
  • Monitor project resource allocation
  • Oversee the planning and schedule of project timelines
  • Communicate with various departments including senior leadership
  • Coordinate with other company departments to accomplish goals and budget standards
  • Assist with designs and engineering solutions for the projects assigned
  • Work closely with the engineering team in identifying and resolving problems involving equipment at the facility
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Current College student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, Mechatronics)
  • A strong team player is necessary with the ability to coordinate efforts of many individuals internal and external to the organization
  • Sound decision making ability, computational, and analytical skills 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all aspects of job responsibilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
