Packaging Engineer Co-op Intern

Title: Packaging Engineer Co-op
Job Description

Key responsibilities:
Working as critical member of project teams for specific customers
Designing and developing packaging using corrugated, paperboard, molded pulp, wood, foam and various sustainable materials
Prototype creation – using the Kongsberg sample table and by hand
Participating in team brainstorm sessions
3D modeling using SolidWorks
2D and 3D corrugated design using ArtiosCAD
Performing and overseeing lab testing - ISTA 1A, 3A; ASTM D4169, 6A, and custom protocols
Creating pallet patterns using TOPS or CAPE
Internet research; potential packaging suppliers, new packaging materials, etc.
Sample testing
Test reporting and documentation
Specification development
Skills:
Ability to work creatively and analytically, both independently and in a problem-solving team environment
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
Energetic and self-starting persona that can help drive continuous improvement to our approaches and solutions
Able to ideate and develop solutions tailored to client needs, facilitate brainstorming and collaborative activities, leverage multiple ideas and inputs from various stakeholders
Basic Qualifications:
Be a Packaging major
Preferred qualifications:
Have completed (or are currently enrolled in) a SolidWorks class
Have had a number of core packaging classes including Fundaments, Materials, and ideally Consumer and Distribution
Have been exposed to packaging software such as TOPS, AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD
Be well versed in Microsoft Office Suite software: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Be team-oriented, self-motivated, and organized
Have “hands-on” experience using corrugated sample cutting table (Kongsberg, Data Tech)

This position is based out of our Chain Analytics Minneapolis office. The packaging design & development center is based at this location.
