Project Engineer Summer Intern

The Project Engineering Intern will provide dedicated support to the Central Engineering group on a variety of projects related to the manufacturing of building construction materials. The area of focus could be the membrane, insulation, or metals divisions depending on what division has the best opportunity for support. There will be several identified areas which this equipment can be analyzed or improved. Common project aspects are listed below. As the time nears the employer’s goal will be to identify a project that meets the intern’s field of study and allows for limitless results during their internship.

 

  • Analyzing and evaluating existing manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Improving operations through automation and Industry 4.0 tools
  • Design, specification, quotation, and installation of new equipment or processes

 

Each of the afforded projects will include an aspect of all phases of project management within the window of employment. The finished product is intended to be installation or fabrication of the equipment specified.

 

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • 3.0 GPA

 

The basic work environment is within a manufacturing facility with an average of 2 week of travel per quarter (although more travel may be required on occasion). The atmosphere is relatively fast paced and occasionally becomes stressful. The environment demands that multiple projects be worked on at the same time.

 

Work Environment:

  • 70% office – troubleshooting/support, project development, monthly reports, team meetings/calls
  • 15% factory – process equipment support, troubleshooting, programming/testing.
  • 15% travel – process equipment support, troubleshooting, programming/testing.

 

Time Worked:

  • Must be able to work full time Mid-May to Mid-August onsite in Carlisle, PA
  • Hours Worked: Normally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. | 40 hours/week; Situations will require additional hours worked per day and /or alternate shifts worked (equipment breakdowns, process issues/troubleshooting, equipment commissioning/startups, etc.).
