Lighting Design

Mazzetti has an opportunity for a Lighting Design Intern with Mazzetti’s Lighting Design Studio. 

Mazzetti’s Lighting Design Studio provides lighting design services for all project types ranging from commercial to residential, and from healthcare to hospitality. The national studio works across all our various offices, on projects across the United States and International work. Our award-winning design team of subject matter illumination experts balance artistic expression with technical prowess, developing integrated sustainable solutions. The Lighting Design Studio is an industry expert in lighting design, illumination engineering, daylighting, theatrical lighting for the built environment, smart systems, and lighting controls.

The Intern will assist the Lighting Design Studio to develop and execute holistic lighting design solutions incorporating brightness-based design principles, sustainable best practices including appropriate control design through the use of technology, while exceeding client expectations. 

 

Key responsibilities

The Lighting Design Intern will learn and perform the following tasks:

  • Develop lighting solutions.
  • Perform and assist in lighting calculations, system modeling, lighting load and energy analysis, renderings, presentation materials, preparing construction drawings.
  • Coordinate work within the Mazzetti Lighting Studio Team (including electrical engineering, sustainability, and LEED efforts) and with other disciplines.
  • Participate in limited construction observation activities. 

Working Location

Internship opportunities may be available in multiple office locations, or remotely. Mazzetti supports a hybrid model of in-office and remote work. The expectation for this position is that the individual will work remote full-time for the duration of the internship (generally around 10 weeks), with invitations to a few select in-person activities to allow for in-person mentoring and social activities, dependent on candidates’ proximity to an office or event. 

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing bachelor’s, or master's degree in Lighting Design, engineering specifically architectural or electrical engineering with lighting emphasis, interior design or architecture with an emphasis or coursework in lighting 
  • Able to obtain or pursue a lighting design student organization membership, IES or IALD for example but not limited to these organizations.
  • Perform technical design tasks with varied software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Adobe Creative Suite experience
  • Previous internship experience in related field
  • CAD and Revit drafting/drawing production experience
  • Photometric modeling experience preferred in AGI32. 
  • LightStanza, Dialux or Acuity software a plus.

What We Offer

Interns will receive a competitive compensation of $25 per hour.
