Job Summary: This is technical work providing civil and structural engineering design support and preparing construction drawings and specifications for civil engineering projects for the District; performing material takeoffs and assisting engineers in the preparation of cost estimates.

 

Job duties include:

  • Provides basic civil engineering design support and prepares construction drawings for civil and structural engineering projects. Performs material takeoffs and assists engineers in the preparation of cost estimates.
  • Assists engineers in the use of graphic design software packages for the preparation of engineering drawings.
  • Reviews project investigative documents, plans, and technical design document submittals.
  • Assists engineers on site investigations and inspections for project design and construction. Obtains field measurements and documents observations.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

An associate degree from an accredited college or university in an area related to engineering or architecture; and two years of computer aided drafting and/or design systems experience. 

 

Experience in progressively responsible civil or structural design using computer aided drafting and design systems may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

 

Skilled In:

Computer applications including spreadsheet and word processing, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D Design. Has effective communication skills both orally and in writing to provide information to others and to gather and apply information. Coordinating with engineers and project managers in completion of project assignments. Understands customer needs and expectations and provides excellent service to fulfill customer expectations.

 

Physical Requirements/Working Environment: 

Mostly office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products with some field visits as required.

 

Periodic field visits:

Applicant must have ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.

 

Licenses:

Requires a valid Florida driver license.

 

Travel:

Occasional travel to attend off-site meetings, sometimes outside of normal business hours including overnight. Ability to drive oneself to and from meetings. 

 

 

Additional Details:

Salary Range: $44,512.00 - $55,640.00

Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
