Entry Level - Transportation Construction Inspector Position (Remote CT Field Offices)

Work with a project team under the direction of a professional engineer or a NICET-certified Inspector on a field construction project located in Connecticut. Perform field inspection, including developing daily inspection reports, for various highway or bridge construction activities. Gain valuable experience towards a future construction certifications. Depending on the assignment, potentially support in office management tasks such as daily reporting and record keeping, cost management, scheduling and developing as-built documentation.

GPI is seeking an Entry-Level Transportation Construction Inspector for bridge and highway projects.

I-95 Highway Project: Project located from the Rhode Island State Line to Exit 89 on the South Bound side approximately 11.6 miles long. Typical roadway construction work anticipated for the safety improvements project includes fine and course milling, Polymer Modified Asphalt (PMA) paving of the wearing surface, pavement patching, shoulder reconstruction, new curbing, and new roadway illumination. Typical bridge rehabilitation operations work anticipated for the project includes modifications to the existing parapets to accept the new guiderail and protective fence installation, new asphaltic plug expansion joints at bridge abutments, application of penetrating sealer protective compound to the exposed faces of concrete parapets, median barrier, and full height of designated substructures. 

Route 1 Bridge Project: Project consists of the full replacement of Bridge No. 00326, which carries U.S. Route 1 over the Metro-North Railroad in Stratford, Connecticut, with a single- span Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil – Integrated Bridge System (GRS-IBS). GRS-IBS is an accelerated bridge construction (ABC).  The GRS-IBS will reduce project costs, construction duration, construction footprint, and impacts to vehicular and rail traffic. The GRS-IBS has three main components, a reinforced soil foundation, the abutment, and a reinforced approach embankment. Work will be performed under typical multiple-stage construction conditions in combination with accelerated short duration closings of U.S. Route 1 to construct the abutments and bridge deck. Additional work will include demolition of the existing bridge, erecting the superstructure, constructing concrete deck and barriers, protecting, and accommodating existing utilities and railroad infrastructure, reconstructing approach roadways, and constructing fencing and safety features.
