Manufacturing Engineer

Orbit, located in North Salt Lake, UT (10 minutes north of downtown Salt Lake City), is looking for a full-time Manufacturing Engineer. Why should you come work at Orbit? A Day in the Life of the Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for completing engineering change requests and assisting with sustaining product support. They may also lead and direct the work of others.
What are the requirements for this position?

  • 2-5 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. in a recurring manner, and/or for long periods of time
  • Understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems and components as used in automated machines
  • Knowledge of computer solid modeling design, and working knowledge of electrical systems and components
  • Understanding of 3-Axis Mill and Knowledge of CNC Lathe
  • Must be able to travel internationally

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops specifications for design and build, and modifies automated machinery as needed
  • Troubleshoots new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes
  • Reviews product designs for manufacturability or completeness
  • Assists in the acquisition of custom automated equipment
  • Provides support and assistance for all aspects of product quality as related to manufacturing equipment
  • Directs or coordinates manufacturing, construction, installation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications and codes
  • Provides support and assistance to product design, quality, and process
  • Assists in analyzing automation equipment to improve efficiency and reliability
  • Completes Engineering Change requests
  • Works in teams to resolve Supplier Corrective Action Requests, Closed Loop Corrective Actions, and Material Review Board issues
  • Employs and occasionally teaches lean manufacturing techniques to reduce product cost and improve quality
  • Delivers presentations, training, reports, and other information using acceptable methods and techniques
