PAID INTERNSHIP - Marketing Intern [Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden]

Marketing Department Internship

The Marketing administration intern supports a department that works closely with all other departments to promote Snug Harbor events, special activities, and the site overall to prospective and repeat visitors. The intern will assist the Marketing & Communications Manager with departmental administration during the summer season and develop an on-site marketing plan for the Visitor Services department to execute. This includes interfacing with staff, vendors and audiences, assisting with logistics and implementation of the on-site marketing plan. 

Responsibilities include:
  • Inputting events into website calendar -
  • Creating Facebook events and Instagram stories -
  • Inputting events into PatronManager (ticketing system) -
  • Listing events in external community calendars -
  • Assisting with mailings/labeling -
  • Setting up bi-weekly e-newsletter and postings -
  • Making/printing purchase orders -
  • Web page updates -
  • Developing an on-site marketing plan to activate passersby traffic

Learning Opportunities
A solid understanding of a cultural institution’s artistic programming and its administrative processes. Increased knowledge in multiple areas of event management and communications including logistics, design, implementation, and feedback. Increased knowledge of the NYC cultural sector and Staten Island arts community.

Supervision
The Marketing intern will report directly to the Marketing & Communications Manager.
They will work closely with External Affairs Assistant and Senior Manager, Visitor Services.
