Aftertreatment Development Engineer

This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

 
As an Aftertreatment Development Engineer for John Deere Power Systems located in Waterloo, IA you will:
 
  • Develop diesel engine aftertreatment hardware and calibrations to meet existing and future emissions regulations and customer application requirements.
  • Design and execute test plans to optimize engine and aftertreatment system performance, critically analyze data, and present technical information/recommendations to support calibration, hardware selection, and controls development decisions.
  • Manage a Performance & Emissions test cell, providing clear work direction for the test cell operators, and coordinating test schedules and experiments.
  • Use simulation and modeling techniques to improve test coverage/efficiency.

What Skills You Need

 
  • One or more years of relevant engineering work experience with engines and/or aftertreatment systems.
  • Product test experience with familiarity of instrumentation and data acquisition
  • Demonstrated skills in data analysis and decision making.
  • Demonstrated skills in technical communication.

What Makes You Stand Out

 
  • Experience in performance and emissions calibration and development of heavy-duty diesel engines or aftertreatment
  • User experience with GT-Power/GT-Suite
  • User experience with National Instruments DIAdem analysis software
  • User experience with Matlab and Simulink
  • Experience using Design of Experiment methodologies, modeling, and optimization techniques.

Education

 
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
