CS Pathways Intern: Summer Residential Programs

Our CS Pathways department in the School of Computer Science is searching for an Intern for Summer Residential Programs to assist with programs and projects that support CS Pathways’ efforts to create more equitable pathways for all students to study computer science, specifically in relation to our summer residential experiences for high school juniors and seniors. This role will support the work of the Outreach Program Manager and Assistant Outreach Program Manager in support of fulfilling that mission. Examples of some of our programs may be found on our website: www.cs.cmu.edu/cs-pathways, with specific emphasis for this role on AI Scholars and CS Scholars.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Assist with the delivery of programs including, but not limited to:
- Student relationship building and communication
- Data collection/evaluation activities
- Event and field trip support
- Coordination of student travel
- Attend regular meetings with supervisor and team
- Administrative support of programs
- Act as an ambassador for CS Pathways in the community as appropriate
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Passion for increasing educational access, especially to computer science
- High emotional intelligence
- Ability to work with colleagues, volunteers, and young adults from diverse backgrounds with respect, kindness, and a good sense of humor
- Strong orientation to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a larger staff team
- Ability to obtain Pennsylvania Act 153 clearances
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and transport items around campus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Opportunity open to all majors, with preference given to those studying social work, student affairs, the humanities, and the social sciences.
- Availability to work limited evening and weekend hours, with most work happening during traditional business hours
