Design Engineer

Introduction

HyPerComp Engineering, Inc. is an industry leader in the development, testing, qualification, and production of Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessels (COPVs). Our products are used in space launch vehicles, commercial & military drones (aerial & underwater), other hydrogen fuel-cell and electrolysis technologies, and in many other exciting applications throughout the world. We design, fabricate, and test each of our products in Brigham City, UT. Our small team (less than 20 employees) is tight-knit and we love what we do. One of the best parts of HyPerComp is the exciting testing we get to do (it’s kinda like myth-busters around here). We are an AS9100 D company and our commitment to safety is our highest priority.

We are currently in search of a motivated individual to join our team as a Mechanical Engineer (Level 1).


Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineer (Level 1) will report directly to an Engineering Project Manager. The primary responsibilities of a Mechanical Engineer (Level 1) are:
·      Create engineering packages including CAD models and drawings, shop floor work instructions, and material specifications
·      Perform analysis on composite pressure vessels including netting analysis, finite element analysis, thermal analysis, and stress analysis
·      Design test systems including skid design, automation software/ hardware, instrumentation, data acquisition, and test chambers
·      Create and deliver detailed engineering reports
·      Operate within an AS9100 D quality management system
·      Perform pressure vessel fabrication activities including inspection, assembly, and CNC machine operation
·      Perform pressure vessel testing activities including burst testing, cycle testing, damage testing, etc.
·      Help as needed with shop organization and cleaning, inventory management, and other tasks  



Desired Skills/ Qualifications

The minimum required skills and qualifications for the position are:
·      BS Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (MS Degree is a plus)
·      Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD program
·      Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
·      Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition
·      Attention to detail, especially with regards to process control
·      Excellent documentation and organization habits

The following skills and qualifications are desired but not necessarily required:
·      Experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems
·      Experience trouble shooting mechanical and electrical systems
·      Experience designing, fabricating, or testing composite structures
·      Experience programming and operating CNC machinery
·      Experience following Shop Floor Work Instructions
·      Hands-on experience with power tools, hand tools, welders, lathes, mills etc.
·      Experience operating heavy equipment (forklifts, tractors, CNC machinery, etc.)
·      Experience maintaining machinery (engine repair/ maintenance, other machine maintenance)


Benefits and Expectations

·      Annual salary range: $65,000 - $80,000 depending on experience level

·      40 hours per week
o  Normal work schedule:
§ Mon – Thurs 7:00 am to 4:30 pm
§ Fri 7:00 am to 11:00 am
o  Schedule is flexible and can be personalized
