Hybrid Senior Environmental Engineer/Scientist

KeyLogic Systems has an immediate need for a Senior Environmental Engineer/Scientist to join our team supporting the Department of Energy's (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). The Senior Engineer will focus on critical minerals including rare earth elements (REE) research and development (R&D)

The position is Hybrid out of Pittsburgh, PA

Position Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • A Master's Degree in engineering, energy/environmental studies, or a related discipline
  • An advanced degree (PhD) along with fundamental understanding of energy and environmental systems, critical minerals R&D is preferred
  • Five (5) years of related experience supporting advanced energy and environmental systems focused on clean and efficient utilization of fossil fuels and/or experience with mineral processing 
  • Professional experience related to extractive metallurgy of critical mineral, fossil fuel power plants, and/or carbon utilization technologies is highly desired
  • High degree of demonstrated intellectual and analytical skills
  • The ability to work independently, as well as in a structured team environment with federal and other technical services contractors
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks with often overlapping deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to interact with clients and colleagues on a daily basis
  • Excellent writing and research skills are essential
  • Must be result oriented and able to work on multi-assignments in a fast-paced deadline-oriented work environment
Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical, analytical and coordination support for conceptualization, formulation, implementation, and management of program planning, outreach activities, cooperative programs, and projects focusing on critical minerals including rare earth elements (REE) research and development 
  • Advancing NETL's energy and environmental activities that promote environmental sustainability
