The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Water Rights has an opening for a Senior Water Resource Control Engineer (Supervisory) in the Drought Planning Unit of the Bay-Delta and Hearings Branch. The position is located at 1001 I Street, 14 Floor, Sacramento, right in the heart of downtown next to light rail stations and other public transportation. 

Duties:
This position offers a unique and challenging opportunity to lead a newly created unit of five multi-disciplinary staff responsible for developing and implementing a variety of long-term drought planning and management initiatives, projects, and programs designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the State Water Board’s Division of Water Rights’ drought management actions. The focus of this position and the unit will be the development and implementation of robust approaches, methodologies, and tools for water availability analysis and modernized data management and visualization; development and implementation of policies and regulations for water availability analysis, water diversion measurement and reporting, water right curtailment, and minimum instream flow requirements; and development and implementation of new and improved methodologies and techniques for public outreach and communications related to drought planning and management.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
