AmeriCorps Community Outreach & Education Coordinator

The AmeriCorps Community Outreach & Education Coordinator role at Judicare Legal Aid (JLA) supports efforts across JLA's service area to better educate the community related to civil legal issues that impact health priorities, and to better support JLA's client population with getting help for their civil legal issues. Specifically, this role would be working on:

(1) Improving client services: The AmeriCorps Community Outreach & Education Coordinator will play an integral role in evaluating our current application process and work with our Client Services Manager to make modifications and improvements. This will be a critical step in simplifying the process people must go through to access direct legal services.

(2) Increasing presence in our service area: The AmeriCorps Community Outreach & Education Coordinator will conduct and support outreach activities in our service area to address a concern raised in a Legal Needs Study that is currently in its final stages. Judicare Legal Aid provides services to Wisconsin’s Northern 33 counties and Native Americans statewide, which encompasses quite a large geographic area. This means that our staff isn’t able to be physically present in every corner of our service area, but we want to change that through this AmeriCorps member.

(3) Develop and implement outreach efforts: The AmeriCorps Community Outreach & Education Coordinator will collaborate with our Communications & Development Director to develop and implement outreach initiatives. This will include: drafting and creating social media posts; writing and reviewing outreach materials for community events and education; crafting legal resource materials for community members. This includes supporting the development efforts of an in-progress Wisconsin legal help site to ensure that easy-to-understand legal information is being shared across Wisconsin.
