Estimator - Kiewit Offshore Services

POSITION OVERVIEW

As an Estimator, you bring your big ideas, commitment to top quality and unwavering work ethic. In return, we offer huge career opportunities and the satisfaction of building "the next big thing" from the ground up. In estimating, you will learn all disciplines of what it takes to complete major projects at Kiewit, making you a well-rounded individual and critical asset to the Company. There’s a reason Kiewit attracts the best: we offer fast-paced excitement and fulfillment you won’t find anywhere else. Our mission is to make a difference and we offer opportunities for you to make a difference in our construction operations.

An estimate is a detailed breakdown of the anticipated cost to complete a given task. It reflects the estimators’ thinking regarding how the project will be built. It answers questions such as what labor, equipment and materials will be required, and at what rate will the combined resources complete the task in for the work that will be carried out.

The “right cost” is the lowest cost to build the work within a given period of time and under other project constraints, such as availability of skilled labor and location. The estimator’s role is to determine the right cost to perform the work and to identify and quantify possible risks that might impact those costs so that senior management can include sufficient contingencies to account for them in the bid.
