Our Forensic practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues.

We have an opening for an Entry Level Mechanical Engineer in its New York, NY office. You will be expected to support and learn from senior engineers. Your work will be varied and may include extended travel and fieldwork. You will be expected to:

A strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles is required as is the desire and ability to learn more. You must be able to write well and continue to improve your writing skills. This position focuses primarily on the investigation, troubleshooting, and analysis of mechanical systems and the clear and concise explanation of our findings to our clients. 

Responsibilities:
  • Support the Engineering team with field investigations, analysis, design, production of contract documents, and construction administration services.
  • Assist with damage assessment and cause and origin investigations related to insurance claims
  • Perform required field surveys, calculations, design, and equipment selections
  • Prepare field notes, feasibility studies, cost analyses, and specifications
  • Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings and prepare materials related to presentations
  • Interface and coordinate with Architects/Engineers/Contractors/Clients/Attorneys/other Experts
  • Assist with the organization and preparation of construction drawings and specifications
  • Review and research applicable building codes

Qualifications:
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong analytical skills
  • E.I.T. desired
  • Interest in mechanical investigation/design of buildings and industrial systems, as well as interest in litigation support and insurance claims evaluations
  • Proficient in both manual and software-assisted calculations
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit/Microstation a plus

Compensation
The rate for this position generally is $77,000 - $81,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee’s pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.Benefits
