Manufacturing Engineering Technician, Battery R&D
Tesla is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to contribute to the
development and deployment of specialized processes and equipment for our
cutting-edge Battery products. Battery development is at the heart of our
company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central
challenges with electric vehicles – battery cost and performance. Tesla is a
demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly
motivated team on extremely challenging projects.
Responsibilities
- Regularly collaborate with Design
- and Manufacturing engineers
- Participate in assembly process
- reviews
- Support development and optimization
- of manufacturing processes, quality controls and equipment specifications
- Support the installation and
- commissioning of electromechanical equipment
- Help develop training material, and train
- key personnel
- Support process and equipment
- validation, utilizing metrology, destructive, and non-destructive testing
- Help develop test criteria and
- collaborate on test fixture designs
- Summarize and present findings to a
- team of your peers
- Respond to equipment maintenance
- issues
- Collaborate across teams/departments
- to support and share new standards/knowledge
Requirements
- 2+ years’ work experience in a similar technical role
- AS in a technical topic or equivalent progress towards a BS degree is preferred.
- Experience with electromechanical systems
- Able to converse technically with engineers, and external vendors
- Proficient with hand-tools and fixture assembly
- Initiative and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently
- Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
- Experience working in an industrial/manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication skills, organized, and detail oriented
- Able to interpret technical documentation and drawings
- Experience creating documentation and technical reports using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Understanding of electronic circuits and systems, conductors, isolators, dielectric materials, is a plus
- Experience with or exposure to CAD software 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (SolidWorks, CATIA) CAD is a plus
- Experience with conventional machining and other fabrication processes, 3D printing experience is a plus
- Ability to travel between Tesla facilities and vendors (domestic and international) is a plus
