Failure Analysis Engineering Intern (Summer 2023)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for hands on teardown of HDD during product development phase
  • Review electrical FA and determine next cause of action to investigate cause of failure.
  • Work in a Class 100 clean room environment
  • Physical teardown of drives, collecting and interpreting possible cause of failure and next step of FA characterization/ analysis.
  • Document images in our FA database system
  • Effectively document and present FA findings /conclusion to program team.
  • Work with functional teams to prevent recurrence of similar issues


Qualifications:


Required:
  • Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry Majors only 
  • Graduating between December 2023 - June 2024
  • Experience with one or more of the following tools: optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, surface analyzer microscope
Helpful:
  • Knowledge or Exposure to analytical tools/techniques such as SEM, AFM, Raman, Tof-SIMs etc.
  • Matlab or Python 
  • Experience working in a materials characterization or analysis setting
