The Advanced Data converter platforms Group (ADG) within Analog Devices, Inc. is hiring a Product Applications Engineer. This group develops ultra-wideband integrated transceiver products for aerospace & defense, instrumentation and communications infrastructure markets, supporting applications such as radar, 5G, Satcom, smart phone testers, etc. The team is focused on addressing customer needs and supporting product roll-out globally. The primary responsibility of this position is to work directly with other applications, IC/Chip, software, product, production test, marketing, sales, and field applications engineers to enable customers to quickly understand, adopt and deploy end products with transceiver-based designs and ensure a positive customer experience.
The Product Applications Engineer will support customers by phone, email, and on-site visits to present information, answer questions, and debug customer issues. Additionally, the Product Applications Engineer will write documentation that describes silicon functionality, firmware, and software operation to customers. System hardware design and implementation; laboratory measurements and experimentations; functional and performance testing; analog and digital circuits and systems innovation will be part of the responsibility and contribution of the Product Applications Engineer. The Product Applications Engineer will create and deliver presentations to customers as well as Field Applications Engineers highlighting the capabilities of the product. They will collaborate with the marketing team to engage with customers to understand, define and document customer system requirements.
Responsibilities

  • Possess data converter expertise and experience in applying converters and associated components in ultra-wideband RF signal chains
  • Understand ultra-wideband RF systems and associated signal chains including interfaces to FPGAs / ASICs
  • Design sub systems with electronics components including amplifiers, mixers, PLLs, analog and digital filters, RF matching, data converters, etc.
  • Analyze, Test and Debug transceiver evaluation systems using lab test equipment and by writing test code.
  • Provide basic FPGA support for customer design-in
  • Support customers with software level integration of ultra wideband transceivers in customer systems.
  • Write documentation that describes silicon functionality, firmware, and software operation to customers.
  • Travel to worldwide customers and other ADI sites as needed
  • Strong English communication skills are essential so that the successful candidate can Interact with, present to, and/or be trained by global teams
Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering or a related field, MS preferred
  • Team player, quick learner, excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of RF, data converter technology & architectures
  • Strong fundamentals in high speed analog and digital circuits, and radio signal chain
  • Familiarity with the role of key RF design specifications (such as IIP3, Noise Figure, etc.).
  • Programming experience in languages such as C, Python and Matlab
  • Familiarity with DSP algorithms (i.e. equalizer, QEC, FIR filters etc.) and/or FPGA programming experience is a plus 
  • Good circuit debugging skills and proficient with lab equipment such as signal generators and analyzers, oscilloscopes and power sources
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers and other teams
