Wireless/RF Systems Engineer

The Wireless Systems Group in the Wireless Communications Business Unit is responsible for developing new technologies and applications of artificial intelligence for wireless infrastructure communications. We are looking for a self-motivated individual to overcome technology challenges and solve problems at the intersection of wireless communications and RF systems with focus on AI/ML Intelligent Edge opportunities including but not limited to RF signal chain enhancement and radio access network optimization and automation.
As a member of the Wireless Systems Group (WSG), you will be at the center of the system on chip development responsible for system design for the state-of-the-art wireless and radio products. Working closely with systems architect, digital designers, and firmware engineers, you will lead and build innovative solutions to complex technical and business relevant problems from simulation to implementation to full feature realization. You will help with building link level simulations and investigating algorithms for core functionalities of the wireless communications systems. You will design and validate them to allow performance sign off and enable hardware development. You will also be part of building intellectual property and participating in industry/academic research projects as well as contributing to future standard work items. Continuous learning, mastering and creation of new technologies are important in this role.
 
Responsibilities (some to be learned on the job)  

  • Define technical contributions in different areas of the wireless systems, cellular protocols, and network architectures.
  • Drive concept work, specifications, simulation, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Build end to end simulation of sophisticated wireless systems from a multitude of signal processing and modeling disciplines.
  • Analyze performance metrics leading to new product requirements.
  • Conduct radio systems research for future wireless networks to enable new businesses and offer higher end to end performance by leveraging ADI’s broad portfolio.
  • Drive results of research projects into intellectual property and product roadmaps.
Qualifications
  • MS/PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar engineering field.
  • Experience with modeling wireless systems to comprehend dependencies between system components and protocol layers and their interactions.
  • Experience with MATLAB and Python for algorithm development, modeling, and simulation.
  • Familiar with at least one of the following areas.
  • Communication theory, and information theory.
  • Signal processing, linear algebra, and convex optimization.
  • Machine learning and deep neural network fundamentals.
  • Beamforming, channel modeling, and RF antennas.
  • Knowledge of cellular radio and 3GPP standards (LTE, LTE-A, 5G NR).
  • Familiar with system level RF component characteristics and behavior.
  • Hands-on experience in lab testing and characterization for evaluation of silicon and RF systems (preferred).
  • Open mindset with drive for success and a solid work ethic are valued more than any particular skill.
