The mission of Oxy Low Carbon Ventures, LLC (OLCV) is to extend Occidental’s distinct competitive advantage in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) and to explore other low carbon opportunities.
 
The successful full-time candidate may enter Occidental’s mentored programs, which feature on-the-job training through challenging job assignments. We encourage entry level engineers to be flexible and willing to relocate within five years, typically to an alternate U.S. location and occasionally to an international assignment.
 
Description
The Roles and Responsibilities for the Low Carbon Ventures Technology Engineer are:
  • Critically evaluate and prioritize a wide variety of CCUS technology concepts that may fit into the Low Carbon Ventures short and long-term strategies by using engineering fundamentals (e.g., mass and energy balances, thermodynamics).
  • Support/Develop the scope and schedule to evaluate CCUS technologies from a technical and/or business perspective.
  • Network in the industry to identify novel yet practical CCUS concepts, technologies, or products.
  • Support Low Carbon Ventures project execution through thorough technical and process design reviews, start-up assistance, and plant troubleshooting.

 
Qualifications
  • PhD in Chemical Engineering, undergraduate degree must be in Engineering  
  • Must have a graduation date of December 2022 – August 2023
  • Must have maintained a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale for all degrees
  • Must have past internships or cooperative education experiences
  • Desire to pursue career in Oil and Gas Industry
  • Experience in electrochemical systems a plus
