The Mixed-Signal ESD Engineering group is seeking a motivated, experienced NANOMETER CMOS ESD DEVELOPMENT INTERN title to join the team located at ADI’s Wilmington site. Mixed-Signal ESD Engineering is a global group with engineering staff in Wilmington, MA, San Jose, CA and Limerick, Ireland. The team supports all business units within Analog Devices, designing products on the nanometer CMOS process technologies, among others. The team’s mission is to design ESD robustness in all products. The successful candidate will join a group of 5 senior engineers in Wilmington, MA.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • The intern's responsibilities are to engage with the engineering staff to develop and/or optimize existing or proprietary ESD protection devices and circuits. The focus will be on nanometer CMOS technology.
  • The project will involve a literature search of existing solutions on said process technology nodes, generating novel device/circuit topographies/architecture, designing using CAD tools and manufacturing the new concepts.
  • Time permitting electrical characterization of the devices/circuits to be undertaken to include but not limited to DC current-voltage, capacitance vs. voltage, as well as transmission line pulse measurements both at cold to elevated temperatures.
  • Data analysis, cataloging and documentation of measurement results will also be part of the intern's responsibilities.
Minimum qualifications
  • The candidate should be a graduate student in good standing and pursuing a master/doctoral course of study in the following discipline: electrical engineering and/or physics.
  • The candidate should have laboratory experience through independent undergraduate/graduate research in college and be comfortable and willing to operate electrical measurement equipment/systems manually and through a controller (i.e., computer control). Training on measurement equipment will be provided.
  • Knowledge of Computer-Aided Design tools for designing proprietary devices is a must.
  • The candidate is expected to be an independent worker and willing to take initiatives.
