The Smart Grid Solutions (SGS) group is seeking a system applications engineer to join our team supporting solutions in the energy space, using a wide variety of technologies in applications such as electric vehicle supply equipment, home energy management systems, grid level monitoring, solar, battery storage and utility measurement. System application engineers are key in understanding how the products fit into the larger customer application, this includes defining the solution in such a way that it has the largest impact. This means developing hardware, writing software and creating documents to enable customer's end solutions. System applications engineers play a vital role for product development and customer engagement at Analog Devices. This candidate should enjoy and excel at solving system level problems and will interface with circuit design, software developers, evaluation engineers, marketing and customers.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Working through challenging problems and helping others solve system issues
  • Definition and creation of reference designs and evaluation platforms specific to target end applications
  • Assisting in debug of hardware designs and the firmware/software that enable the design
  • Development of technical collateral including application notes, technical articles, and datasheets

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's (or Master's) degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Solid understanding of analog and digital electronics
  • Software programming experience (C, C++, Python, and/or LabView)
  • Debugging/troubleshooting skills of both hardware and software
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • PCB design, schematic capture, layout, and build process
  • High degree of familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, waveform generators, multimeters, etc
  • Willingness to work with customers, mentors and colleagues at all levels
  • Independent and self-motivated; willing to take initiative and complete tasks with minimum supervision

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with microcontrollers and embedded programming
  • Experience or relevant study in the energy space
  • Understanding of power electronics
