Title:  Mechanical System Design Engineer – Co-Op/Intern
Position Description
The mechanical system design engineering co-op position is an opportunity to be part of team working on “Ahead of What’s Possible” technologies that bridges real analog world around us and the digital cloud.
This position is designed to provide an immersive experience in mechanical system design that makes use of semiconductor IC chips to create systems and modules. These modules are designed to solve unique problems in healthcare, automotive, or industrial applications. It requires students to follow hands-on method of learning and participate in development of state-of-the-art system’s solutions for semiconductor devices. Student will get an opportunity to work on design of 3D CAD models, characterizations to understand design tradeoffs between manufacturability, reliability, and time-to-market. Candidates are be expected to have:

  • Working knowledge to generate CAD models (AutoCAD or Solidworks).
  • Communication skills to work senior engineers developing 3D systems’ models and performing design-manufacturability tradeoff characterizations.
  • Learning mindset to perform destructive physical analysis and competitor teardowns using cross-sections, lapping, and decapsulation, and high magnification optical microscopy.
  • Motivated to learn analytic tools such as x-ray, acoustic microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy when needed
  • Ability to collate information with appropriate supporting data and present into a coherent report for communication and distribution.
Eligibility:

  • Rising senior in undergraduate mechanical or biomechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Master’s candidates with relevant skills may be considered.  
For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export  licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.  As such, applicants for this position – except US Citizens, US Permanent Residents, and protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) – may have to go through an export licensing review process.
