New College Graduate Process Engineer

ASM
As a Process Engineer at ASM, you will work with semiconductor processing equipment to research, develop and optimize processes focused on oxidation, annealing, curing and deposition (ALD or EPI) of thin films. You will develop new applications of thin films and process in the areas of logic, memory, analog, power and MEMS. You will design and conduct complex experiments, measurements and perform the interpretation of complex experimental output. In this role, you will deliver creative solutions and create inventions. Technical publications and generation of Intellectual Property (IP) is an essential function of this position.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop semiconductor Epi or ALD films to meet the requirements of semiconductor devices through sharing of relevant knowledge and contributing creative and imaginative inputs in the following areas:
  • Process Development
  • Product Design
  • Performance Enhancement
  • Works with semiconductor processing equipment to research, develop and optimize unit processes focused on the deposition of Epitaxial or ALD films
  • Designs and conducts experiments, in addition to measuring and interpreting experimental output, aimed at fulfilling stated objectives using DOEs.
  • Participates in and drives technical problem-solving sessions using the scientific method and industry tools.
  • Works with customers and marketing to understand and define requirements in order to successfully execute and document customer demonstrations.
  • Provides process results-based insight to engineering towards the improvement of the product (process performance, reliability and other critical HVM criteria).
  • Develops methods and techniques for integrating Epitaxial or ALD films into existing and future device technologies.
  • Ensures successful process transfer to customer base by performing demonstrations, training field applications personnel, traveling to support remote sites (10 ~ 20% travel may be required), and drafting documentation regarding process development.
  • Produces technical papers on process, equipment, and device integration improvement strategies and presents to professional audience.

Education and Requirements:
  • Masters in one of the following areas: Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics
  • Ph.D. Preferred
  • Experience with cure, oxidation, ALD, CVDE and/or other thin film deposition.
  • Experience with materials characterization techniques such as XPS, SIMS, RBS, AFM, XRR, XRD, TEM, SEM and ellipsometry.
  • Knowledge of electrical characterization techniques for CMOS devices.
