Value Creation Quality (QA) Intern - Summer 2023, Newport, OR

Pacific Seafood offers a unique, 12-week internship program that gives interns the chance to make an immediate impact on our company. Starting with a structured orientation week at our corporate headquarters near Portland, Ore, you’ll be able to meet the team and learn the full scope of our business. Throughout the summer months, you’ll dive deep into a meaningful project for our company, which you’ll then present to our executive leadership team at the end of your internship. This internship will gain work with the Value Creation and Quality team by collecting and analyzing critical operational and food safety data in a fast paced and highly active atmosphere. This data will then be used to improve production and handling on the docks and in our facility with the goals of eliminating waste and enhancing our sustainable approach to providing high quality seafood.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Be a role model in projecting and applying The Pacific Group Diamond Philosophy (Productivity, Quality, Excellence and Teamwork) at all times
  • Collect QA data from receiving facilities.
  • Perform data analysis identifying trends.
  • Streamline QA data collection and collation.
  • Work directly with production supervisors in monitoring and maintaining quality standards.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required.
  • Potential opportunities to work directly with fishing vessels.
  • Prepare project overview and present findings to executive leadership
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
 
What You Bring to Pacific Seafood
Required
  • Pursuit of a Science related undergraduate/graduate degree
  • Experience with data collection and basic analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Interest in seafood and food quality
Preferred
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Prior work experience in related field and a professional office environment
  • Experience with Excel Power Query
