Research Assistant in Stem Cell Biology and Neurodegeneration

We are looking for passionate and highly motivated individuals to work on a NASA funded project in the Blanchard laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai. The researchers will work closely with lab members to create iPSCs-derived vasculature and 3D models of the human brain and apply these tools to investigate mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s disease and neurodegeneration. The successful candidate will be responsible for culturing cell lines, microscopic analysis, performing, designing, and maintaining experiments, and analyzing data. Duties are divided among all researchers (postdocs, graduate students, technical associates) and will include, creating specialized media formulation and maintaining an inventory of stem cell reagents and stock chemicals; preparing specialized culturing surfaces and maintaining a well-organized inventory of cell lines stored in liquid nitrogen. Will work under the direct supervision of the lab director and post-docs.
The position would be ideal for a recent college graduate or master’s student looking for an immersive research experience for 2-3 years prior to applying to graduate school. This is a unique opportunity to work in the field of human stem cell biology and develop cutting-edge technology to understand and treat neurodegeneration. The Blanchard Lab is committed to the intellectual development and career progression of all lab members.
Please visit the lab’s website for an overview of our research:
