Fall 2022 Graduates: Full-Time Chemical Engineering Positions


The Assistant Chemical Engineer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects. The Assistant Chemical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting chemical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.
  • Assists in the chemical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Assists with modifying and reviewing production drawings for a variety of projects
  • Assists in designing chemical components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers. 
  • Applies basic knowledge of commonly used chemical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the chemical engineering services industry. 
  • Assists with research and compiles project related data as required by the project managers. 
  • Assists with correcting and updating drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software. 
  • Assists with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities. 
  • Assists in performing field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients. 
  • All other duties as assigned. 

Opportunities for our Chemical Engineers exist in multiple market segments and locations. Market segments include Energy, Environmental, Food & Consumer Products, Oil, Gas, & Chemical, and Water. Specific assignments and project work vary depending on the market segments and locations. Please see below for information on each market:
Work includes analysis and design of new process related equipment for new power-generating facilities, as well as upgrades to existing facilities. Typical equipment and systems include wet and semi-dry FGD systems, electrostatic precipitators, selective catalytic reduction systems, water treatment equipment, fabric filter particulate removal systems, and other related systems in and around a power generation facility. Systems include water treatment systems and air pollution control systems for coal and gas fired power plants.
Provide assistance in air and noise services in the power, industrial, commercial, transportation and manufacturing industries. This includes performing air and noise quality analyses and permitting, environmental regulatory analysis and interpretation of environmental regulations.
Food and Consumer Products
Provide assistance in chemical engineering services in the food and consumer products industries. Various project duties including development of heat and material balance calculations, preparation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications and purchase packages, equipment general arraignments, piping layout and design, and development of construction scoping documents.
Oil, Gas, and Chemical
Work includes process design activities for oil refinery and petrochemical facilities, chemical, biofuel and industrial facilities, terminal and pipeline facilities, as well as upgrades/expansions to existing facilities. Various project duties including process simulation, development of heat and material balance calculations, and preparation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Work includes design of water and/or wastewater facilities, performs feasibility and water balance studies for waste minimization and water re-use, assesses the soundness of proposed applications relative to fundamental engineering principals, evaluates and selects treatment processes, develops treatment plant layouts, specifies equipment and materials, and assists senior staff in the execution of projects. 

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • Or Bachelor of Science in Chemical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Involvement on campus or in the community.
  • Basic knowledge in standard chemical engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
