Research Technician Assistant or Scientist

Situated at the intersection of biochemical and pediatric research, the Nitschke lab seeks a highly motivated and fast-learning team player for a position with ample opportunity for personal and professional advancement. Our lab is interested in cell and glycogen metabolism and the treatment of associated neurological diseases with novel gene therapy approaches. In a stimulating environment, the candidate selected for this position will perform scientific research in the areas of neuroscience, cell and molecular biology, gene therapy and other related scientific fields using diverse methodology including state-of-the-art methods of analytical biochemistry.

The successful candidate (MAYBE YOU:) will be an integral part of the Nitschke Lab, actively contributing to publications, lab meetings, and discussions. The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in the primary research projects of the lab, working as part of a team or independently. Exceptional candidates will have the opportunity of a leadership role in an independent research project.

HERE'S OUR WISHLIST (if you have some of the below, APPLY!)

Strong quantitative (math), organizational, and problem-solving skills are required as well as attention to detail. Experience with handling rodents is preferred as is experience with techniques of quantitative biochemical analyses, in molecular cloning and recombinant protein expression, histological imaging, protein biochemistry (IP, WB, proteomics, protein interaction studies), enzymology, cell culture, and assay development. Experience with carbohydrate analyses, techniques of liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry are desired but not required. 

Candidates are encouraged to submit with their application a cover letter, samples of their own scientific writing (theses, publications etc.), and a list of laboratory techniques they have repeatedly performed independently (for each technique the list should indicate the self-perceived level of expertise).
