Research Technician - Cancer Genetics

The Choi lab is seeking a new Research Technician to start in the Spring/Summer of 2022 (actual start date is flexible). In this role, you will work directly with the principal investigator to pursue research projects in cancer genetics and RNA biology. You will collect data, interpret experimental results, and provide support to help the lab operate efficiently. There are opportunities for authorship on lab publications, learning bioinformatics, and pursuing more independent projects as you gain experience. A minimum 2-year commitment is preferred and candidates with plans to pursue M.D. and/or Ph.D. degrees are strongly encouraged to apply.

We are located at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). CHOP was ranked in 2021 by Forbes magazine as one of the "Best Employers for Women” and "Best Employers For Diversity” in the nation. It is a vibrant research environment, also adjacent to the Perelman School of Medicine, the Abramson Cancer Center, and the Wistar Institute. Members of the lab are research technicians and graduate students in various Penn Biomedical Graduate Studies (BGS) programs.

Our lab's mission is to make discoveries that improve our fundamental understanding of biology and aid in the development of new therapies for cancer. We apply a variety of cutting-edge molecular biology and functional genomics approaches, such as next-generation sequencing, CRISPR/Cas9 genome-editing and high-throughput screens. We also strive for a supportive environment made better with diverse perspectives and ways of problem-solving. For more information, please visit http://www.thechoilab.org.
