Chemical Technician

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under direction of the laboratory supervisor and chemist prepare and analyze samples from all areas of Ray Operations using sample preparation methods and quantitative chemical analysis. Verify, record, and report daily production assay results in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Generate and standardize laboratory solutions.
  • Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Perform preparation of daily production shift samples.
  • Use laboratory information management system (LIMS) to record and export assay results.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOP's) and QA/QC practices.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory reagents and materials.
  • Follow all company safety and environmental policies.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Assist Mine Engineering Technicians with sample preparation and collection as needed.
  • Assist Chemist with tasks/projects as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Aptitude to learn software, instrumentation, and analytical techniques.
  • Ability to make basic mathematical calculations.
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • A desire to work as a team member and help others.
  • Good communication skills.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED

PREFERRED EDUCATION

Technical school or Associates Degree
