Geotechnical Design Engineer in Training (San Antonio, TX)

Geotechnical Design Engineer in Training
 
Geotech Design E.I.T.:
 
  • Contributes technical direction to the geotechnical design group; from concept through design basis and detailed design.
  • Ensures all geotechnical designs for roadway embankments and large earth structures are in accordance to the Ferrovial Group’s standards.
  • Ensures geotechnical principles and analyses are appropriately understood and applied in design by junior staff.
  • Reviews the work of all geotechnical engineers and outside consultants engaged in the project development, engineering and design, and reports his reviews to the project geotechnical manager.
  • Creates analytical two and three-dimensional models under direction from the Design Manager.
  • Checks that geotechnical items have been properly accounted for in the Bills of Quantities.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis on Geotechnical and Structural Engineering obtained from an accredited U.S. college or university, preferably one of the premier civil engineering programs in the U.S.
  • 0-2 professional years of experience preferred
  • MS Degree with one-year experience acceptable
  • Registered E.I.T preferred
  • Must be on a track for attaining a Professional Engineering (PE) registration
  • Demonstrated qualities of leadership and hard work
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings and specifications
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and can work in a fast-paced environment; an eagerness to learn and apply your engineering skills to develop creative problem-solving designs/ideas
  • Strong commitment to high standards, integrity and ethics
Experience with:
 
  • Geotechnical site investigation planning and monitoring
  • Field and laboratory data reduction, interpretation, and analyses to define geotechnical parameters required for structural and civil works
  • Design of shallow and deep foundation design
  • Design of retaining walls and other earth retention systems
  • Seepage analysis and dewatering
  • Slope stability analysis
  • Static and differential settlement calculations
  • Seismic hazard analysis and mitigation
  • Subgrade improvement and pavement design
