Chemist (Quality Control Analyst I )

Job Description
 
The successful candidate will be resourceful, detail oriented, and able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. He or she will perform chemical tests and physical inspections of materials, products and documents to assure they are correct, complete, follow approved policies and current General Manufacturing Procedures (cGMPs). This position reports to the QA/QC and Laboratory Manager.
 
Responsibilities
 
  1. Performing routine testing and analysis of raw materials using FTIR, UV-VIS, and wet chemistry. Conforming to all CGMP/GLP requirements in performance and documentation of analytical testing
  2. Receives, inspects and samples components and labeling according to written specifications. Documents the inspection results on the appropriate forms. Reviews documentation to assure accuracy before submitting to Quality Control.
  3. Inputs data into computer as required. Prepares documentation to support the release of conforming material or disposition of non-conforming material.
  4. Performing routine maintenance, cleaning and calibration of equipment used in the analytical labs
  5. Assisting in the maintenance of the chemical and consumable material inventory necessary to perform routine testing and analysis
  6. Providing constructive input into the review, change and update of laboratory documents such as SOPs, test methods and test records
  7. Complying with all safety standards while on Company premises and during performance of job functions
  8. Performing peer review of analytical notebooks and other documents, as needed
  9. Work with management and other technical staff on special tasks and to help solve any problems that might arise.
 

Required Education and Experience
 
·  B.S. in Chemistry or related field.
·  Minimum 1 year experience preferred.
·  Experience operating analytical instruments
·  Ability to prepare clear and accurate documentation and understanding of its importance
·  Good interpersonal skills with an energetic style, but also able to incorporate and build on feedback and direction.
·  Strong verbal and written communication skills
·  Solid computer skills will be valued.
·  Flexibility and willingness to work 1st, 2nd, or a modified work shift, as departmental needs demand

Salary and Benefits:
 
Salary Range: $48,000 to $60,000, depending on experience and qualifications
