Position Description
Become an Education Intern for EATS Park City and provide direct services to our community through our Summer Camps and Cooking Class programs. The Education Intern position is offered through Utah Conservation Corps and is a great opportunity to learn facilitation skills for students of all ages. EATS Summer Camps and Cooking Classes take place in community spaces, like schools and community gardens. Topics covered during EATS classes include: eating seasonally, eating locally, developing an awesome relationship to food, and learning cooking skills to take ownership over what we eat. Join us to learn experiential facilitation techniques that foster growth and autonomy in students while serving your community as an AmeriCorps member.

Primary Duties
  • Along with EATS Garden Intern and Education Coordinator, facilitate programming at EATS Camps and Cooking Classes
  • Assist in developing curriculum and coming up with educational activities for students
  • Occasionally tending to garden plots where EATS Gardens Manager grows food for cooking classes
  • Oversee EATS volunteers who assist in cooking classes or summer camp programming

Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of or experience in sustainable, organic gardening
  • Ability to work and teach in an outdoor environment 
  • Experience working with kids in an educational setting 
  • Ability to speak in front of groups of students of all ages
  • Excellent communication skills, positive attitude, and ability to solve problems creatively
  • Ability to lift and move 30 pounds

AmeriCorps Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • At least age 18 by the start of service term
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must undergo and pass a National Criminal History Check
  • Eligible to serve in an AmeriCorps State/National term
  • Commitment to completing their Term of Service (start date-end date)

Training/Professional Development you will receive:
  • Training under the Education Coordinator to get to know community partners and to learn how to serve a community through experiential education and empowerment
  • Professional development opportunities through working with community partners (Park City School District, other summer camp providers, teachers, and nonprofit staff)
  • Data collection, validation, and reporting training
  • Volunteer management training

Compensation:
This is a 300-hour AmeriCorps position that comes with these benefits:
  • $2,824.00 living allowance (paid in even disbursements throughout term of service)
  • $1,342.86 education award (available to members after successful service term)
  • Federal student loan forbearance and workers comp for all members.
