Scope of the Position:
In this role, you will direct and develop the tool room resources, provide tooling support to plant operations on both a day-to-day level and as part of continuous improvement. You will also be the liaison between the plant and division tooling engineering to ensure smooth transitions of new projects. Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and lead Tool Room employees
  • Track and plan tooling preventative maintenance
  • Ensure critical spare parts are available
  • Provide support for equipment, processes and new products.
  • Specify and order equipment in support of project work.
  • Identify key improvement opportunities within the department.
  • Maintain tool drawings and associated work instructions
  • Lead tool engineering projects • Develop experiment and validation plans,
  • Draw conclusions from data and make technical recommendations.
  • Provide verbal and written updates to supervisor and leadership.
Travel Requirements:
  • Limited, 10% domestic.
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
  • Standard business hours; Monday – Friday.
Desired Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Tooling, or similar degree program.
Required Years and Area of Experience:
  • 2-5+ years tooling / engineering experience.
  • You will need relative engineering experience.
  • We will also consider co-op and internship experience.
Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of plastic molding technologies.
  • Experience within a manufacturing plant environment.
  • Familiarity with process data management applications/systems.
  • Ability to take routine data retrieval and analysis and develop a standard methodology.
  • Able to handle multiple complex tasks and set priorities with multiple internal customers.
  • Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office Applications.
Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:
  • Experience with CAD drafting; Solidworks.
  • Basic knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean (DMAIC) methodology.
Soft Skills:
  • The ability to learn new technology and processes quickly.
  • Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions.
  • Can establish a broad network across the engineering and technology organizations.
  • Good verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
