Device Engineer - Hardware

Alarm.com is seeking a passionate and talented hardware engineer to join our device engineering team. The position is ideal for candidates who want to join an interdisciplinary team building cutting-edge connected IoT devices and smart sensors for home automation and security applications. Our team works with a variety of next-generation technologies (LTE, Cat-M, NB-IoT, sub-Ghz, Wifi, BLE, Lora) integrating low-power design, cellular networks, local wireless networks, sensors, and signal processing. This hands-on role bridges the gap between software and the physical world. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a similar technical discipline
  • Skilled in circuit design, simulation, and testing
  • HW engineering experience including schematic capture, PCB layout design, and hardware testing
  • Rigorous attention to detail with a focus on robustness, scalability, and quality of products
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a small, fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter, analytical, tenacious problem solver
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion for working with technology and excitement for creating high quality consumer technology product

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop, design, simulate, and test a range of wireless devices
  • Design and test hardware for life safety applications in a challenging global market
  • Work closely with RF design engineers to optimize RF performance and minimize EMI
  • Work closely with Mechanical design engineers to meet product requirements with challenging space constraints
  • Collaborate with Firmware engineers to ensure efficient hardware verification and board bring-up
  • Operate independently but working with senior management to understand and be fully aligned with company priorities, goals, and strategies
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to build new devices to expand the Alarm.com connected device ecosystem.
