Nuclear Power School Instructor (Utah & Idaho)

ABOUT
Nuclear Power School (NPS) Instructors train all Officer and Enlisted members of the Navy's Nuclear Propulsion Program. You will gain valuable teaching experience in an exciting and technologically advanced curriculum. NPS Instructors teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in a campus like environment. It is a fast-paced curriculum taught in a challenging, highly-technical setting offering unique professional and personal rewards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
NPS Instructors teach and facilitate both Officers and Enlisted personnel in the mathematics and theories behind the development of nuclear p0wer generation. This is essential in ensuring the safe operation of nuclear power plants and in preparing the Officers and Enlisted personnel for their future in the nuclear power field. Nuclear Power School is a 26-week course of instruction spent learning:
• Physics
• Electrical Engineering
• Heat transfer
• Fluid flow
• Chemistry
• Radiological Fundamentals and Reactor Plant Engineering

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
(To be an eligible candidate, you must be):
•      A U.S. Citizen
•      19-29 years old
•      Completion of one year of calculus through differential and integral Calculus with a grade of B or better and Calculus-based physics with a grade of B or better
•      Able to receive a Security Clearance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Serving at Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU) in Charleston, SC, you’ll work in a unique
environment combining classroom instruction and self-paced study with real-world operations. Much of your work will take place in the nuclear power plant of a moored submarine, providing valuable hands on training. You will study the same curriculum taught to the Submarine and Surface Warfare Officers and then go on to teach it, facilitating the same collaborative learning environment that you first experienced in your own training. This assignment requires dedicated leaders committed to the success of their students.
