Biological Engineering Staff Outreach

The USU Department of Biological Engineering seeks an energetic, collaborative team player skilled in marketing, communication, and event planning to facilitate the department’s goals in outreach.
Reporting Responsibilities
The Biological Engineering Staff reports to the Biological Engineering Department Head.  
On-Campus ACA Variable Position US Work Authorization is Required
  • Find out from each current biological engineering student and department alumni what biological engineering means to them and where their interest in biological engineering originated. 
  • Prepare short, exciting summaries from the conversations to share on the website and social media platforms.
  • Prepare collaborative activities, including virtual and online interactions, that illustrate what is biological engineering and the difference it can make.
  • Reach out to the K-12, 2-year, and 4-year institutions from which current biological engineering students originate. Update the list as new students join the department.
  • Contact institutions on the list to introduce them to biological engineering, the department, its students, and staff.
  • Coordinate frequent and periodic in-person and virtual demonstrations at K-12, 2-year, and 4-year institutions and recruiting events using the collaborative activities.
  • Plan, record, manage and assess use of resources including software and information systems to support timely completion of initiative objectives
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • One year of experience in a related field
  • Associates degree, Certificate, similar credential or key result demonstrated in a relevant field
  • Skilled at conducting professional, effective, and efficient outreach, marketing, social, and technical communications and events
  • Demonstrated proficiency using the MS Office suite of programs and Qualtrics software
  • Demonstrated proficiency initiating and maintaining social media and web-based communications
  • Ability to think strategically, analyze complex situations, and resolve problems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize and advance multiple simultaneous workflows.
  • Ability to maintain a budget and track expenditures and transactions.
  • Ability to manage communications through web development, social media, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
