Restoration Design Engineer- Lake Mary, FL

JMT's Lake Mary, Florida office is looking for a Design Engineer who is passionate about restoration and water resources to assist with engineering design across multiple states. The Engineer will use knowledge of general engineering and ecological principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments. Sponsorship is not available for this position.  As a condition of employment, hire will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Proof of vaccination will need to be submitted as part of the interview/hiring process. 
 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Develop engineering design plans, including but not limited to stream, wetland, and habitat restoration, drainage design, and stormwater management
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and other topographical data to plan projects
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, modeling, and watershed studies
  • Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines using design software and drawing tools
  • Develop construction cost estimates
  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality

Required Skills
  • Understanding of basic hydrology and hydraulics concepts
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for preparation of project reports
  • Candidates must be capable of working on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Required Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Environmental, or Agricultural Engineering with emphasis in Water Resources; Master’s Degree preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in Water Resources Engineering
  • EIT certification required
 
Preferred Experience
  • Hydrologic & hydraulic modeling (TR55 / TR20, ICPR, SWMM, Rational Method, HEC-RAS, HY-8)
  • Wetland and stream restoration design
  • Watershed modeling
  • ArcGIS experience
  • AutoCAD and/or Microstation drafting experience
 
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 90% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.  Occasional travel will be required.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50lbs) may be required as needed.
