Software Engineer - Full Stack

Job Responsibilities

You will be joining a focused, high-performing team that builds modern cloud applications using open-source technology. As a full-stack developer, you will become involved in all phases of the software lifecycle from requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, monitoring, and operation of services on our global network.
If you are intrigued by the thought of designing modern services to optimize our global fleet of satellites, we need someone with the energy, drive, and curiosity to help realize our goals.
This position can be based in either of our Germantown, MD, or Carlsbad, CA offices (near Washington, DC and San Diego, CA). 

Requirements

• B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience
• 2 + years Software Development / DevOps experience
• Fluency in mainstream languages such as Java, Python, Go, or C#
• Knowledge of design patterns and UML
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Humility, pragmatism, and the ability to work in a team environment
• Participation in an on-call rotation for production services

Preferences

• Experience with a functional programming language such as Clojure
• Familiarity with JVM based tools and languages
• Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and monitoring dashboards
• Knowledge of Cloud Platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
• Data modelling experience
• Data analytics experience
