Entry Level Civil Designer - Land Development

An Entry Level Designer will be an essential team player. Building plan sets and aiding in project plan development. Critical thinking, complex problem solving and thorough research are all part of design development. At Taney Engineering, we provide training running the spectrum of the design process for a land development plan package. You’ll learn due diligence, site planning, notation, zoning codes, underground utilities, topography, coordination with entities, contractors, survey, and plan production.

An ideal candidate possesses the ability to exercise sound judgment, remain organized, have excellent multi-tasking skills, ask questions and excellent communication, and have a basic ability to read and understand civil land development plan sets. Applicants should be familiar with Land Development concepts and AutoCAD or other computer-aided drafting software.

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
·      Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Additional related work experience can be substituted for a degree).
·      0-2 years of design experience utilizing AutoCAD, AutoCAD C3D, or other computer-aided drafting software.
·      Software experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
·      Software proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe and other basic computer programs.
·      Ability to transfer notes, redlines or verbal explanation onto a drawing generated in AutoCAD.
·      Excellent writing/editing, research, communication, critical thinking, and presentation skills.
·      Understanding of engineering plans, maps and records.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
·      Plan production setup within AutoCAD Civil 3D.
·      Design, detail and annotate full civil improvement plan sets as directed by senior designers.
·      Research existing conditions from available sources and perform site visits.
·      Research municipal code and zoning ordinances to incorporate into designs.
·      Develop planning documents and exhibits including maps, reports, letters, comprehensive and local plan packages, and presentation materials.
·      Collaborate with interoffice teams and departments to prepare land development plans for submittal.
·      Assist in the development of simultaneous projects with competing priorities.
·      Address comments from clients and governing agencies.
·      Translate sketches and ideas into design features.

Job Type: Full-time
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Occasionally the employee may need to work overtime as deemed necessary.
