Systems Application Engineer

Job Description

This job family primarily supports the Vertiv custom thermal product.
Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to design projects and responsible for simple, tightly scoped design tasks with guidance. Creates and revises drawings and bills of materials.  Provides technical planning and project management for assigned projects.
  • Interpret customer specifications and schedules to define requirements for equipment design and performance. Analyzes equipment configurations needed to fulfill customer’s requirements and provides costing estimates for special features and components.  Creates submittal documentation that describes equipment features and capabilities for approval by customer and for use by detailed design engineering. Collects, analyzes and interprets performance and cost data. Defines requirements needed to provide energy analysis and other total cost of ownership metrics for projects that require it.
  • Reviews final equipment proposals for technical validity, overall solution design, safety and validation of equipment configurations with the customer and company representative. Follows recognized agency standards for design and testing practices.
  • Initiates lab test requests, guide technicians, evaluate, and document test results. Assist with definition and implementation of customer witness testing, when required.
  • As needed, works with local and remote plants to implement designs into production.
Education:

  • BS degree in Engineering, or equivalent industry experience. 
Requirements:

  • Limited experience in design and engineering.
  • Some knowledge of psychrometrics, fan technologies, direct expansion, chilled water, and evaporative cooling technologies. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, EXCEL, Power Point and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization including solid presentation skills and experience.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and be action-oriented to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
  • Must have the ability to analyze data and problem solve.
