Hardware Engineer

Position Summary
The Hardware Engineer reports directly to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for analyzing requirements, making recommendations regarding technical approach, designing circuit boards, developing/ overseeing engineering of related electro-mechanical assemblies and preparation of engineering documentation. As a member of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, this position leads hardware product/ system requirements definition and hardware design and development efforts required to meet product system specifications, conform to quality standards, statutory regulations and industry standards. As an integral member of the engineering team, the Hardware Engineer is a product champion who supports release of products to manufacturing and to the market.

Key responsibilities include:
·      Analyzes, develops, recommends and implements technical approaches to meet product/ system features and functional specifications
·      Develops hardware designs, including digital and/or analog electrical boards, circuits, components and interconnects, firmware and software interfaces
·      Oversees design and development of electro-mechanical enclosures
·      Creates project parameters to include schedules, cost estimates, design for manufacturability and test (DFM/ DFT) and compliance plans
·      Creates/ oversees development of engineering documentation to include schematics, blue prints, assembly drawings, test reports and user manuals
·      Communicates technical requirements/ tradeoffs to stakeholders
·      Evaluates commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products
·      Performs modeling, simulation, data distribution and performance analysis (MTBF)
·      Creates and maintains and/or oversees configuration management system for product options
·      Creates/ reviews Engineering Change Orders/ Notices (ECO/ ECN)
·      Conducts impact and feasibility studies for candidate equipment
·      Develops product/ system validation and verification plans
·      Interfaces with contract partners, test labs and customers as required
·      Conducts/supports unit, functional, and product acceptance testing
·      Prepares technical reports, product overviews and training material for internal and external customers
·      Monitors efficient deployment of new technologies and systems
 
Skills, Experience and Attributes:
·      BSEE, CSEE or related technical degree, MSEE preferred
·      5+ years' electrical engineering experience in a products manufacturing environment
·      Comprehensive knowledge of Engineering circuits, development tools and RF principles
·      Competent in the use of electrical engineering software and test equipment
·      Core competencies in hardware design and analysis tools (Altium/ OrCad PCB Layout)
·      Strong understanding of electrical manufacturing and test processes (DFM, DFT, V&V, ATE)
·      Understanding of development project methods and tools (MRD, Gates, Agile, Scrum)
·      Strong analytical and problem solving skills
·      Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
·      Team player with the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, technicians, operators
·      Ability to support a multi-disciplined project team
·      Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers
·      Ability to use contemporary office tools (Word, Excel, Exchange, Email, PPT)
