Job Responsibilities


Viasat’s UHF SATCOM business is actively enhancing and modernizing our various modem software and hardware products. We have developed a vast array of modem software products that provide the physical layer foundation for channel control and network terminal capabilities used for military satellite communications. Our products have been deployed by US military and many foreign allies for many years that meet crucial satellite communication needs for warfighters around the globe in all weather and terrain conditions. You will be participating in an active software development team that is elevating our products to become a more capable and robust system by adding more features with increased reliability. We provide a dynamic and flexible work environment where software engineers are encouraged and expected to take initiative and apply their problem-solving skills and creativity to modem software design and to resolve technical issues.

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Math, and/or a related field
  • Experience using C/C++
  • Experiences or knowledge with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Communications theories
  • Experience using Matlab, and/or Simulink for simulation and model-based design
  • Experiences or exposure with embedded software programming concepts and tools
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • US citizenship.

Preferences


  • Previous RF or DSP related internship experiences is a plus
  • Experiences with TI TMS320C6000 family DSPs
  • Experiences or exposure with Python
  • Experience with programmable logic
  • Experience using version control and issue tracking tools (e.g. Git, Jira, Perforce, etc.)
  • Ability and interest to obtain and maintain a security clearance in the future
