Product Quality Engineer University Grad

Job Responsibilities

Our Government Programs Quality Engineering Team is responsible for assuring the products developed, manufacturing and delivered from our Viasat Tempe facility meet all customer requirements for performance, functionality and reliability for our Government Customers.  Assuring compliance to requirements as well as customer satisfaction in our products is key to our long term business success.
As a member of our team, you would be expected to learn and apply quality assurance knowledge and skills to our products through their entire product life cycle as you become familiar with our customers, products/systems, technologies and processes.  

In this role, you will grow your engineering career as you:

  • Review product yield and field reliability data for trends and provide analysis and recommendations to business
  • Help drive root cause investigations and process improvement efforts as well as create/implement world-class quality practices (i.e. Pareto Analysis, Histograms, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Cpk, etc.) and business tools to help streamline this analysis
  • Contribute and provide input to evaluate the quality performance of Viasat products
  • Help coordinate Corrective Action Requests (CARs) and Failure Analysis Requests (FARs) for improvement. Conduct and provide analysis on Gage R&R studies
  • Using your strong analytical mind and superior communication skills, you will provide QA technical support on Field reliability issues and Product Yield and Test improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Strong math, statistics and data analysis skills.

Preferences

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
  • Some experience in Quality Engineering in support of electronic assemblies including SMT CCAs, Box Build and Test
  • Some working knowledge of PLM Tool (Agile) as well as ERP system (i.e. Oracle)
