Job Responsibilities

Become a personal contributor in our mission to connect the world! Viasat Hardware Engineers innovate in an environment that encourages collaboration while challenging the status quo. Join the industry leader in digital communication and technology and take control of your professional pathway! Our culture empowers us to do the right thing and explore technology that will benefit people across the globe. It is uniquely Viasat and, intentionally, not like any other company.
As a Viasat Hardware Intern working in the Secure Network Systems group you will get real world experience by working closely with a mentor on a complete project development cycle, from envisioning, defining, implementing, testing and integrating with external components. Our interns will make a presentation and perform a demonstration at the end of the project.
This project will involve coding in VHDL or Verilog and using Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus tools to generate an embedded processor system on an off the shelf FPGA board. The FPGA team will work with Software engineers/interns to define interfaces both to external clients (human and automated) as well as the internal FPGA logic.

Our ideal candidate will learn quickly, love solving challenging problems, be innately curious, learn from their mistakes, and thrive in a collaborative environment. Viasat’s intern projects are real world problems that don’t have defined solutions. We provide the tools and environment you need to learn real world skills. Your mentor will guide you through the process while allowing you the flexibility to experiment and learn on your own.
