Software Engineer Intern

Job Responsibilities


We are looking for results-oriented software engineers to work on the requirements, design, implementation, integration, and test of embedded and application software! Members of our team develop code from the driver level in C, to the application level, all the way to the user interface level using HTML and JavaScript. We additionally prepare operations user documentation and support our global services team by solving field issues. Your "can do" attitude and the drive to learn new things will help continue to drive Viasat’s success!

Requirements


  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in CS, EE, CE or a related field
  • Expertise with multi-threaded applications and inter-process communication
  • Understanding of real-time concepts on embedded Linux or RTOS platforms
  • Experience with C/C++
  • Scripting expertise with Bash, Python or similar
  • Experience with development tools such as Perforce, Git, Crucible, Swarm, Bamboo, Jenkins, JIRA, Bugzilla
  • US Citizenship
  • Able to commit to a 10-12 week summer internship
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferences


  • Linux and Linux driver expertise
  • Web-based user interface development experience
  • Experience with large-scale wireless communication systems (SATCOM, LTE, etc.)
  • Networking experience: TCP/IP, NAT, L2 Switching, Firewalls, AAA, DHCP
  • Experience managing Cisco switches and routers
  • Experience with Docker
  • Technical writing/documentation experience (Wiki, Word, Visio)
