Secondary Music Teacher
Utah International Charter School is a unique small secondary school in its ninth year of operation in South Salt Lake City. Our mission is to empower English language learners in grades 6 to 12, including refugees, immigrants, and American-born students, with rigorous academic content made accessible to all students in a student-centered environment. We are seeking a highly qualified music teacher to join our teaching team beginning immediately. Responsibilities
Plan and implement accessible and challenging curriculum and daily lessons in vocal and instrumental music, basic music theory, and music appreciation for students in grades 6 to 12 who have little or no prior music instruction. (We have a piano lab and a classroom set of guitars).
Manage a caring, respectful, student-centered classroom.
Work effectively with diverse English language learners.
Participate meaningfully in teacher team and professional development activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Current Utah secondary educator license.
Endorsement in vocal or instrumental music.
Ability to work effectively with a teacher team, to exercise creativity, self-direction and leadership, and to thrive in a diverse environment.
